ACE Courses

Adult and Community Education (ACE)  provides adults with community-based education, foundation skills, and pathways into other learning opportunities that meet community learning needs.

ACE in Communities Funding rebate will be applied to any learner who enrols who is and continues to be: (i) a Domestic Student; and (ii) aged 16 years or over; and (iii) not a full-time secondary school student.

These courses are designed for people with low or no formal qualifications: these courses will improve employability, promote social and cultural inclusion and participation, raise foundation skills, and improve health and wellbeing.

Growing Technology Skills

PC Basics = 1-3pm | 10th or 11th Aug | $120 or with *AR only $40
We’ll teach you about how to work your computer, the difference between hardware and software and the all-important topic of computer security. We’ll also explore the different applications you can access and a whole lot more.

Microsoft Word = 9:30am-11:30am 2 x 2 hour sessions
Part 1 – 26th & 27th Aug | Part 2 – 2nd & 3rd Sep
You will learn the basics of MS Word ie formatting, saving and printing, inserting and
editing pictures.

Microsoft Excel = 1:30am-3:30am 2 x 2 hour sessions
Part 1 – 30th Sep & 1st Oct | Part 2 21st & 22nd Oct | Part 3 – 28th & 29th Oct
You will learn the basics of MS Excel ie basic navigation of cells, formatting, saving and printing, inserting and editing formulas.

Microsoft Powerpoint (*Must have completed MS Word) =

You will learn the basics of MS Powerpoint ie applying themes and styles, formatting slides, saving and printing, inserting and editing pictures.

Intro to Barista & Food Safety

Barista Basics = 9am-3:30pm | 12th Aug or 23rd Aug

Learn the different parts of the espresso setup. You will also make different types of drinks: Short Black, Long Black, Flat white, Hot Chocolate, Cappuccino, Mochaccino and Latte.

Intro to Food Safety = 9am-12:15pm 2 x 3 hour sessions | 10th & 11th Aug
or 25th & 26th Aug or 1st & 2nd Sep | $130 or with *AR only $10
Essential training for all food handlers under the Food Act 2014 – from market stalls, cafes and restaurants to senior living and child care centers.

Comprehensive Food Safety = 9am-4:30pm | 10th Aug or 25th Aug or 1st Sep
Great course for supervisors and managers in any business that sells, serves or prepares food.

ABC of Coffee = 9am-3pm 2 days | 10th & 11th Aug or 16th & 17th Aug

Learn about the history and production of coffee, understand more about the beans used to make great coffee. You will also get plenty of hands-on experience on the espresso machines, making coffees.

The Art of Coffee (*Must have completed ABC of Coffee) = 26th Aug

Delve deeper into coffee and feed your passion. Learn more about milk, and different
coffees: pour overs, syphon, percolated and iced brewed.

Getting Work Ready

Intro to Cafe Skills = 9am-1:15pm | 19th Aug | $120 or with *AR only $40
Lets take a look at presentation, hospo face and attitude, serving of cold drinks & cabinet food, clearing tables, serving to table after counter service.

Managing Licensed Premises with LCQ = 9am-5pm | 9th Aug | $249
This course covers all the training required for the Licence Controller Qualification.

Serve High Tea = 9am-3:30pm 2 days | 17th & 18th Aug
$270* nzqa optional or with *AR only $70
Yes there is more to cafes than Coffee – make and serve tea and sandwiches providing High Tea service with a touch of class.

Mocktails = 9am-1:15pm | 20th Aug | $110 or with *AR only $30
Come and learn how to make flash drinks, garnish them and serve. All non-alcoholic and finish with creating your very own uniquely designed mocktail at the end of the day with all the skills you have learned.

Drug & Alcohol Safety = 9am-1:15pm | 10th Aug | $100 or with *AR only $20
Lets be safe! Learn about how drugs and alcohol affect behaviour – you will be able to identify if you or a friend is suffering the effects of drugs / alcohol and what to do to keep them safe.

ABC’s of Leadership = 9am-3:30pm 2 days | 12th & 13th Aug
