This is a very practical look at the food handler and their responsibilities under the Act. All students will leave with a thorough understanding of practices that will result in safe food, and the ability to work confidently under a food control plan.
KEY SUBJECTS INCLUDE:
Essential training – sickness, hand hygiene, personal hygiene, cleaning, food allergens, potentially hazardous food Preventing cross-contamination, waste management, pest and animal control, checking temperatures and calibrating thermometers, receiving goods, food storage. You will receive ITS’s Basic Food Safety certificate on successful completion of the course. This course can also be completed by correspondence, however we recommend attending a training workshop as the very best option.
Please note, you must be in a workplace in order to achieve NZQA unit 167. If you are not currently in a workplace, our Basic Food Safety Certificate is the best option, or NZQA unit 20666.
